Ready or Not, Here He Comes

Good morning – or afternoon, I guess!
Today it’s the long awaited post about how my last post applies to my life. For those of you who have not read my last post, I recommend you read it before you read this one, just because I might make a little bit more sense.
But if you decide not to, that’s no big deal. I’ll give a quick little summary.
What I talked about last week was the importance of the single life, and how being single can bring you closer to God.

I talked about how it gives us more time to reflect and build that relationship.

The cool thing is I was thinking about it this week and technically in God’s eyes there’s nothing that we would really consider dating. You’re either married or you’re not.

Dating is very important, but technically you are single.

But, story time, because we’re talking about how this played out in my life, being single and growing closer to God.

I am a very extroverted person and I really hate being alone and not having something to do. So, for me, being single was really hard just because I wanted someone in my life. At the time I didn’t really realize that I needed to deepen my relationship with God. Looking back I can see that in my time of singleness I didn’t really DO anything; I was more looking for a boyfriend than looking for God.

I know now that I wasn’t really ready for a serious relationship then.
I had a lot of flings; we didn’t do anything other than flirt. However, while flirting I wasn’t really growing myself.

Then I got into the relationship I am in now and it was different. This relationship was built on God and my boyfriend wanted me to dig deeper into the Word. He wanted me to pray before we ate.

It was very, very different and I wasn’t used to this. But like I said, I wasn’t really ready myself and having a good relationship with God before I dated.

However, through the time of this relationship I really got into a deep relationship with God. My boyfriend really pushed me to read my Bible more – he would ask me in-depth questions about what I was reading so I would understand it. Or he would make sure I was understanding it.

Next week, we are going to talk about the importance of readying yourself before you get in a relationship.

Thank you for popping in,
