Worry Worry Worry Part 2

Welcome back today!! I hope you are all having a great week!! I know the last two weeks I went rogue, but we are going back to the topic on worrying, and picking up where we left off two weeks ago.  A few weeks ago, we read through Matthew 6:25-27, and this week we are going to pick up in verses 28-34!!

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

I love these couple of verses because when I read this, all I can think is how grateful I am for the amount God cares for me. And the fact is, He cares about each and every one of us. Whoever is reading this, God cares for you individually!!

Like, look!

“If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you?”

Let’s be honest—how many of you have worried about clothes? I know I have, all the time, especially before a big day or something important to me. All I can think about is, ¨what will I wear?” Isn’t it funny that this verse, which is so many years old, references a problem we still deal with today?

Of course, we worry about clothes, we all have worried and will worry about which clothes we should buy. Or which clothes we should wear to which places. We worry, worry, and worry.

And it’s ridiculous. I know! But guys we all do it!

Let’s look at verses 28-29, in a different version,  ¨And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.” (NRSV) (I changed the version because it makes it easier to understand.)

Guys, guys God created flowers!! That outshines royalty that are beautiful! But guess, what he created us too! And He loves us more than flowers.  If it says the flowers wear clothes better than King Solomon, why do we worry about what we wear? God loves us more than flowers! So clothing is such a small problem in our lives, and something we shouldn’t worry about! If God clothed the flowers well, we are obviously clothed better than the flowers. Guys, God has us covered, and literally in 10 years who in the world is going to remember what you wore today and what was wrong with it. In a few years, whatever you might be struggling with will be so small when you look back at it! Trust me, I can speak from experience and so can Alyssa!

“Do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

These words, oh my gosh – encouraging! It is telling us in this passage that God already knows what we need, He is completely aware of what we need. This is just a reminder that everyone needs something, I promise you aren´t the first or the last person who needs something. Guys, God already knows exactly what we need before we even know what we need! That is so incredible and just another reason why we shouldn’t worry!!

We are going to continue this next week, but I am going to challenge y’all again!

This weeks challenge is rather than sweating the small stuff, like what you are wearing or school or test scores,  remember this! I sent this text to a good friend of mine recently!

I know for some of you guys reading you are struggling to finish school, and you want the school to be over. Or like me, you are getting frustrated by the fact that schools judge you by test scores, and that’s “who you are”. Or for some of us, it might be we don’t think we measure up for the job or for whatever you might be going through, you think you aren’t good enough, because trust me we all do, and then we tend to worry about it.

Just recently my friend was texting me about how school is stressing her out, and how she finds the fact that test scores represent her, has caused her quite a bit of frustration. (Me as well), this is the gist of the text I sent her but just modified so it relates to everyone!

“ [Your name here] listen to me, you are not below average… There is always someone who looks up to you, you may not realize it, but there is. The person looking up to you doesn’t have to be younger they can be the same age or older. You might feel like whatever you are applying for, or a class in school, you feel like you aren’t good enough – but trust me you are. And yes, right now, if you are in high school we are kinda defined by test scores, but that won’t matter in so many years. I promise you God has a plan and there is an amazing plan for you… [Your name here] you are unique in your own ways, and don’t let this hesitation or this wrong thought, that you aren’t good enough, stop you from being who you are.  Most of you probably don’t wanna hear this, but don’t compare yourself, because listen, there are people who are better than you, there always will be. But also there are plenty of people who are aren’t as good as you! [Your name here] there is no reason to think you are any less than anyone else. you are [Your name here], you are one of a kind and there is no one like you. God made you uniquely and cares for you!”

I hope you all have a fantastic week and remember this when you are just not feeling it, and begin to compare yourself! Just remember God has your back and he has a plan and you are special in your own ways!
